Harrell Overman is a sixth-generation Wayne County farmer whose grandfather rented him a 13-acre tobacco farm to work when he was just 14 years old. He and his wife, Lorenda, have been farming row crops and raising swine in Goldsboro now for forty-three years.

Ryan Roberson, co-owner of Roberson Cattle Co. and Overman Farms, was named the Agriculture Producer of the Year for innovation and sustainable practices used to enhance operations.

Roberson Cattle Co. is a Wayne County Chamber of Commerce-sponsored business that raises cattle, produces hay, and sells locally-grown pasture-raised beef products. Roberson maintains an active role in the agriculture community in Wayne County, Johnson said.
